Beach, part two

We just got back from our week at the cabin, and it was so relaxing!  My mom came and visited one day, we went to the Zoo in Tacoma, and Courtney and Charlie came and visited (and cooked us a yummy dinner and pie!).  Ramona played her first game of Scrabble......we like to start them young.  We flew kites, went out on the row boat, went to a tiny ferry dock, and went into Gig Harbor a few times.  I also managed to read quite a bit, we cooked some good dinners, and played on the beach.  Ramona's favorite things to do were picking berries, going out on the row boat, and attempting to be naked as much as possible.  Ruby's favorite things to do were to take a bath in the red bucket, sit on the beach and play with the sand, and grab anything in a ten feet radius and put it in her mouth.  We also loved looking at Mt. Ranier, which will be the location of our next adventure......

Princess

Ramona got her haircut today, and got a purple ribbon in her hair.  When we got home, a dress had arrived in the mail, and the combination of the ribbon and the dress made her quite the princess.  These pictures don't even show her wearing the pink cowboy boots that she had on.  It was a lot!  But, she was very excited to be all dressed up, and even though she looked a little like one of the girls from "Toddlers and Tiaras", it was fun to see her smile.

Beach, part one

I went to the beach place last for the last few days with my parents, to enjoy the warm weather out there.  I was also escaping being a single mom for the week, as Justin was out of town for a road trip.  We had a great time, though I think we wore my mom out a little!  We flew kites, made craft projects, dug in the sand, took baths in a little red tub (surprisingly, that was the biggest hit!), and generally tried to relax.  It wasn't as sunny as we would have liked, but it was nice enough to get out.

We are going back in a week as a complete family, and it will be nice to have Justin to ourselves for a whole week.  Look forward to more beach pictures!

Friends and the Fourth

Our friends Kris and Mat came to visit this weekend.  They are two lovely people that we met in Amsterdam, and have been able to see quite a few times since we moved back.  We went out to Ocho one night (sans children), went on a big neighborhood walk, and had a great dinner outside on our patio (the weather barely allowed it!).

After they left we went to a bbq at Charlie and Courtney's new house.  It was really fun to get together with all of our friends, since we haven't been able to see them as much as we'd like to.  Ramona played with Maddie, and Ruby played with Cedar, Otis and Lucy.  Happy Fourth of July!
