Go, Dog, Go

Our household has been obsessed with Go, Dog, Go since we saw the play a week ago.  We had my parents watch Ruby, and the rest of us went to the play at the Children's Theater with the Mapps.  Ramona had never read the book before, but when we came home she started reciting lines from the play.  Somebody has a better memory than her parents.  So, we bought the book.  Which is when I first realized the book wasn't by Dr. Seuss.  Really?

The madness continued last weekend when we went to a performance by Recess Monkey (a local kids' band) at the Children's Theatre, where the "dogs" showed up and danced and sang.  Ramona looked at them like they were rock stars.  We tried to get her to say hi, but she looked at them a little like she looks at the Mariner Moose (50% fear, 50% admiration).  On to tonight's Go Dog Go event, which was sitting on top of the table drawing the dogs, the trees, the party hats, the cars, etc.  Just to warn you, if you ask Ramona "Do you like my hat?"  She will answer "I do not".  She can't help it, she has to quote the book.

Oh, and totally unrelated, Ruby let me put a hair clip in her hair today.

Shy kids

We had Dana and Lincoln over the other day, and I took one picture of the three kids, which turned into a photo shoot.  Ramona kept making me take pictures of her, and apparently the baby car had to be a part of most pictures.

My run tomorrow

Ten things that are going on with the Fentons.

1.  I've been running a lot, and really enjoying it.  I run with Sabrina and Kim every weekend, and am signed up for two half-marathons.  I'm hoping to sign up for the Chicago Marathon, but we'll see.  Looking at the training plan is very intimidating, but also exciting.
2.  We are planning a trip to Yosemite in May.  We are making it a road trip, which is also intimidating with two kids under 4.  However, I'm really excited to show the kids the park, and also experience it for myself for the first time.  It'll be like Oprah and Gayle's road trip, but with more apple juice and poopy diapers.
3.  Ramona has been wearing underwear during naptime!  Maybe thats too much information, but its very exciting for us!
4.  I just signed Ramona up for her first ballet class.  She will be so into it, ballet is one of the only things she talks about these days.  I guess I didn't learn much from Black Swan.

5.  I'm going to try to blog more.  Some entries might not have pictures, because sometimes thats what stops me from blogging more.  But I'm putting it on blast right now, so if I don't write more.....give me a hard time!
6.  I've also been reading a lot more lately.  Some books I would suggest are:  Room, Just Kids, Born To Run, and Half Broke Horses.  All were amazing!  Born to Run sticks in my heart and head the most, even though they were all fantastic.  It is about running, but its also about so much more, I'd suggest it for runners and non-runners alike.
7.  The whole family is hooked on Yo Gabba Gabba, which is a kids show on Nickelodeon.  I am seriously thinking about getting the girls some Yo Gabba Gabba Vans.  My favorite character is Foofa, in case you're wondering.
8.  On that note, we are working on going on more date nights, since we obviously need to get out.
9.  Ruby got her molars.  Thank god thats over.
10.  Tonight we are going to our second UW gymnastics meet.  For you guys with kids in Seattle, its a really fun, kid-friendly event.  I got a free t-shirt last time!  Ramona loved seeing the gymnasts, and you can sit right up front for a good view, because its not too crowded.

Hanging out at Grandma's and Poppa's house.

The kids love going to Grandma and Poppa's house.  Today they made applesauce after watching Sid the Science Kid, where the showed how heat affects food.  Ruby likes to play their instruments, play with Poppa, eat homemade bread, and walk circles around the house.  Ramona comes in their house demanding cheese (because they have the fancy stuff!), and likes to read books with grandma.  We are so lucky for them to have grandparents nearby that they love to spend time with.  Win-win for everyone!

random updates

Here are some pictures of the end of our Christmas/New Years break.  Justin took a week off from work, so we had a lot of family time.  We went on the carousel downtown, we went to the zoo, we went on a ferry ride to Bainbridge to the kid's museum, it was a lot of fun.  I know I'm a little late to write about it, but ever since then we've been watching a ton of sports (Seahawks, Husky basketball, and now tennis).  I'd show you pictures, but I'm pretty sure you can imagine how our family looks sitting in the basement staring at the tv.  So, instead of doing that, I'll give you some updates on the kids:

-Ruby is walking, solidly.  Well, solidly might be stretching it since she has had a bloody lip, black eye and bruised forehead in the last week.  But, she walks everywhere with a big smile on her face, and its too cute.
-Ramona has been singing a lot of Spanish songs around the house, which sound wonderful.  She hasn't been very open about sharing how much Spanish she has learned, so its great to hear her sing.
-Ruby likes to sit in chairs.  Sounds funny, but she REALLY likes it.  She really just wants to get up and down onto chairs all day.  Whatever works.
-Ruby also likes to read in bed.  Just like mom.
-Ramona is hard to take shopping right now.  Unless you like people judging you for your bossy, screaming, manipulative child.
-Ramona is also very in to numbers and letters.  She can tell you the number of any bus that drives by, and she learned how to write her name, and any other word if you spell it to her.
-Ramona basically lives in a pretend world.  She has a wild imagination that takes her to many different worlds.  Really interesting to listen to her.
-Ruby has a mullet.  Just have to get through it and grow her hair out.
